Welcome to Troop 70!

Welcome to Troop 70, Newtown, CT! Chartered by the Cullens Youth Association, we are the oldest Troop in Newtown, and are thankful to have a nature preserve as our "home site".

Troop 70 is proud to carry on a Scouting tradition that balances a love for adventure and new experiences with the important tasks of character development and youth leadership. The Troop, Committee, and Scoutmasters work hard to maintain high standards of behavior, advancement, and duty. Uniform inspections, flag ceremonies, and regular instruction in all areas of scouting are a regular part of troop activities and meetings.

Troop 70 is also pleased to offer activities that can challenge Scouts at any age and level, from local camping, canoeing, and hiking to SCUBA diving and backcountry high adventure camps.

Here are some important details regarding our Troop:

1. We abide by the principle of a Scout led Troop

2. We empower the Scouts by learning through experience

3. We embrace year round camping and activities

4. We meet every Tuesday evening

5. Cullens Youth Association is our Charter Organization and meeting place (72 Taunton Lake Road, Newtown, CT 06470)

6. Cullens is a 20 acre wooded property which allows the Scouts to have meetings in an outdoor setting and to incorporate outdoor activities into their weekly meetings

7. We maintain an active and adventurous monthly event calendar

8. We are the oldest Troop in Newtown, having celebrated our 90th Anniversary in 2018!
